Our live Open Mic Night takes place at The Junction, Applecross, every Friday from 9-11pm.
Applecross is the picturesque Bay and villages that nestle between the Inner Sound and the Bealach Na Ba.
Water and Mountains.
An inspiring setting for the Open Mic Nights that have, since their debut in April 2019, attracted a wonderful mix of local and visiting talent.
On two floors The Junction offers an ideal performance space upstairs and at the same time a full bar and kitchen down. Pizzas are the speciality and they are delicious.
The shows are hosted by local Performance Poet Miss Kiki who has a long and loving relationship with Applecross and lives close by on Shore Street.
She moved to Applecross permanently in January of 2017 after years of living here and there and performing in such places as The Sarajevo War Theatre (Sarajevo, Bosnia i Hercegovina, 2012) and Peter Toerien’s Theatre on the Bay (Camps Bay, Cape Town, South Africa, 2016).
Under the umbrella of Nomad Entertainment in Cape Town, South Africa Miss Kiki hosted the weekly variety entertainment show The Swing Cafe from 2013-2016 in a number of venues across the city including Mercury, the legendary live music venue.
Although a large number of cultural and artistic events take place in the neighbourhood Miss Kiki felt the need for a regular entertainment event, open to all, that could be a vehicle for the many talented groups and individuals that live in and pass through the area.
She wanted to give them a place to perform and a way to get heard and so teamed up with The Junction to offer the Friday nightly Open Mic Nights that are now so well supported and enjoyed.
